Terms and Conditions
Last updated: 30 April 2026
1. Introduction and acceptance of these Terms
These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the LawStreet website at lawstreet.co.uk and any related public pages, features and services ("Website").
The Website is operated by Law Street Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales under company number 16123633. Our registered office is 85 Great Portland Street, First Floor, London, W1W 7LT.
In these Terms, LawStreet, we, us and our mean Law Street Ltd.
By accessing or using the Website, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not use the Website.
These Terms apply to visitors and users of the public Website. If you are a solicitor firm, law firm or legal services business claiming, managing or adding content to a profile on LawStreet, the Firm Terms of Service also apply to you. If there is any conflict between these Terms and the Firm Terms of Service in relation to firm profiles, profile claims, Firm Content, subscriptions or billing, the Firm Terms of Service will take priority.
Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal data. Our Cookies Policy explains how we use cookies and similar technologies.
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make changes, we will update the "last updated" date at the top of this page. If you continue to use the Website after the updated Terms take effect, you will be treated as having accepted the updated Terms.
2. About LawStreet
LawStreet is an online platform that helps users search for solicitors, law firms and legal services providers in England and Wales.
We provide information such as firm details, practice areas, office locations, contact information, regulatory information and other profile information to help users research legal services providers.
LawStreet is not a law firm. We do not provide legal advice, legal services, legal representation or claims management services. Nothing on the Website should be treated as legal advice for your specific circumstances.
Using LawStreet does not create a solicitor-client relationship between you and LawStreet. It also does not, by itself, create a solicitor-client relationship between you and any solicitor, law firm or legal services provider listed on the Website.
Any decision to contact, instruct or engage a solicitor, law firm or legal services provider is your own responsibility. Any advice, service, fee arrangement, client-care process, retainer or solicitor-client relationship is solely between you and the relevant solicitor, law firm or legal services provider. LawStreet is not a party to that relationship.
LawStreet currently focuses on solicitor firms and legal services providers in England and Wales. We do not provide equivalent coverage of legal professionals in Scotland, Northern Ireland or other jurisdictions unless expressly stated.
3. Third-Party Data, Firm Content and profile information
LawStreet may display information obtained from third-party sources, including regulators, public bodies, government agencies, ombudsman schemes, legal aid sources, legal directories, review platforms, accreditation bodies and other external sources ("Third-Party Data"). This may include information sourced from the Solicitors Regulation Authority or the SRA register.
Third-Party Data may be synchronised, imported, linked, referenced, summarised, transformed or displayed by LawStreet from time to time.
Solicitor firms, law firms or legal services providers that have claimed their profile may also add, edit or publish information and materials on their profile ("Firm Content"). Firm Content may include descriptions, team details, testimonials, pricing information, accreditations, calls to action, images, logos and other profile content.
Third-Party Data and Firm Content may not always be accurate, complete, current or available. Third-Party Data may lag behind the original source. Firm Content is supplied by or on behalf of the relevant firm.
We do not routinely verify all Third-Party Data or Firm Content. Publication on LawStreet does not mean that we endorse, approve, verify or accept responsibility for that information.
You should independently verify important information before relying on it. This may include checking the relevant regulator's register, reviewing the firm's own website, reading client-care information, or contacting the firm directly.
4. No legal advice
The information on LawStreet is provided for general information only.
Nothing on the Website is legal advice. You should not rely on LawStreet as a substitute for advice from a qualified legal professional.
Legal issues are fact-specific. If you need legal advice, you should contact a solicitor or other suitably qualified legal services provider.
We are not responsible for any decision you make, or any action you take or do not take, based on information available on LawStreet.
5. No endorsement or recommendation
LawStreet does not endorse, recommend, verify or guarantee any solicitor, law firm, legal services provider, profile, Firm Content, Third-Party Data, review, testimonial, accreditation, pricing information or service description.
The inclusion of a solicitor, law firm or legal services provider on LawStreet does not mean that we have vetted their qualifications, verified their expertise, approved their services, or guaranteed the quality, suitability or outcome of their work.
Search results, filters, categories, locations, profile ordering and the way profiles are displayed are determined by LawStreet and may change from time to time. Their appearance does not constitute a recommendation, ranking of quality, endorsement or guarantee.
You are responsible for carrying out your own checks and using your own judgement when choosing a solicitor, law firm or legal services provider.
6. Regulatory status and profile visibility
LawStreet may use Third-Party Data, including data from the SRA or other regulatory sources, to determine how a profile is displayed, labelled, indexed, ranked or made available on the Website.
Where Third-Party Data indicates that a firm's regulatory status, authorisation, practice status or public record has changed, we may take action in relation to that profile. This may include displaying notices or warnings, changing how the profile appears in search results, excluding the profile from default search results, hiding it from search engines, taking it offline, or displaying a page not found message.
These actions may be applied automatically or manually, and may be changed or reversed if the relevant Third-Party Data changes.
We do not guarantee that any profile will remain visible, searchable, indexed, ranked or available at all times.
7. Your use of the Website
We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to access and use the Website for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms.
You must not:
- use the Website in any way that violates any applicable law or regulation;
- use the Website in a fraudulent, harmful, abusive, defamatory, threatening, discriminatory or unlawful way;
- impersonate any person or organisation, or misrepresent your identity or affiliation;
- attempt to access another person's account, data or systems without permission;
- interfere with, disrupt, overload or damage the operation or security of the Website;
- upload, transmit or introduce malware, viruses, harmful code or other malicious material;
- attempt to bypass security, authentication, access controls or technical restrictions;
- use automated tools to scrape, copy, harvest, monitor or extract data from LawStreet without our prior written permission;
- systematically retrieve data or content from the Website to create or compile a collection, database, directory or competing service;
- use contact information obtained from LawStreet to send spam, bulk marketing emails, unsolicited commercial communications or unlawful communications;
- reverse engineer, copy, reproduce, modify, distribute, sell, exploit or create derivative works from the Website except to the extent permitted by law; or
- use the Website in a way that implies endorsement, approval, partnership or verification by LawStreet unless we have expressly agreed to it in writing.
We may monitor use of the Website to protect LawStreet, users, firms, our systems and our legal rights.
If we reasonably believe that you have misused the Website or breached these Terms, we may restrict, suspend or terminate your access and take any other action we reasonably consider appropriate.
8. Accounts
Some features of LawStreet may require you to create an account.
When you create an account, you must provide accurate and complete information. You are responsible for keeping your account details up to date.
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account.
If you become aware of any unauthorised access to or use of your account, you should contact us promptly.
We may suspend or terminate your account if we reasonably believe that you have breached these Terms, misused the Website, provided false information, or engaged in conduct that is unlawful, harmful or inappropriate.
If you are using an account to claim or manage a firm profile, the Firm Terms of Service also apply.
9. Firm Content and reporting concerns
Solicitor firms, law firms or legal services providers that have claimed their profile on LawStreet may add, edit or publish Firm Content. Use of that functionality is governed by the Firm Terms of Service.
Firm Content is provided by or on behalf of the relevant firm. We do not routinely verify Firm Content, and publication on LawStreet does not mean that we endorse, approve, verify or accept responsibility for it.
If you believe that any content on LawStreet is inaccurate, unlawful, misleading, defamatory, infringes intellectual property rights, breaches privacy rights, or otherwise should not appear on the Website, please contact us with details of the content, its location on the Website, and the reason for your concern.
We will review concerns raised with us and, where appropriate, may remove, restrict, annotate or change the display of content.
We are not obliged to remove content merely because it is disputed, but we may take action where we reasonably consider it appropriate.
10. Intellectual property rights
All intellectual property rights in LawStreet, including the Website design, text, graphics, logos, images, data compilations, software, databases, page layouts, branding and the arrangement of content, belong to us or our licensors.
LawStreet's compilation, selection, arrangement and presentation of information may be protected by copyright, database rights, trade marks and other intellectual property rights.
You may view, use and print pages from the Website for your own lawful use.
You must not, without our prior written permission:
- reproduce, distribute, modify, republish, download, store, transmit or commercially exploit material from the Website;
- scrape, export, harvest or extract LawStreet listings, profile data or other content for use in another database, directory, platform, product or service;
- use LawStreet content to build or support a competing service;
- use our trade marks, logos, branding or business name in a way that implies endorsement, partnership or affiliation; or
- remove, obscure or alter any copyright, trade mark or proprietary notices on the Website.
"LawStreet" and the LawStreet logo are trade marks or branding belonging to Law Street Ltd, whether registered or unregistered. Other names, logos and marks on the Website may belong to their respective owners.
11. Website availability and changes
We aim to provide a reliable Website, but we do not guarantee that the Website will be available, uninterrupted, secure, error-free or free from bugs or vulnerabilities at all times.
We may suspend, withdraw, restrict, change or update all or part of the Website at any time for operational, legal, regulatory, security, technical or business reasons.
We may add, remove, modify, rename, redesign or replace features, pages, categories, search tools, filters, profile layouts and other parts of the Website from time to time.
We are not responsible for any loss or inconvenience caused by the Website being unavailable, delayed, interrupted, changed or withdrawn, except where we are not permitted by law to exclude or limit responsibility.
12. Third-party links and resources
LawStreet may contain links to third-party websites and resources, including solicitor firm websites, regulator websites, public body websites, review platforms, legal directories and other external sites.
These links are provided for convenience and information only. They do not mean that we endorse, approve, verify or accept responsibility for the linked website, its operator, its content or its services.
We have no control over third-party websites or resources. You access them at your own risk and subject to their own terms and policies.
Any dealings you have with a solicitor, law firm, legal services provider or other third party found through LawStreet are between you and that third party. LawStreet is not involved in, and is not responsible for, any agreement, fee arrangement, legal advice, service, communication, dispute or solicitor-client relationship between you and any third party.
13. Liability
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
LawStreet is provided free of charge to public users for general information only. Subject to the paragraph above, we are not responsible for losses arising from your use of, inability to use, or reliance on LawStreet, except where we have failed to use reasonable care and skill.
We are not responsible for:
- losses caused by inaccurate, incomplete, outdated or unavailable Third-Party Data;
- losses caused by inaccurate, incomplete, outdated or misleading Firm Content;
- losses caused by your failure to verify important information independently;
- losses arising from any decision to contact, instruct, not instruct, rely on, or stop using any solicitor, law firm, legal services provider or third party;
- losses arising from advice, services, acts or omissions of any solicitor, law firm, legal services provider or third party;
- losses arising from third-party websites, services, platforms or resources; or
- losses arising from events outside our reasonable control.
Subject to the first paragraph of this section, we are not liable for loss of profit, loss of revenue, loss of business, loss of goodwill or reputation, loss of anticipated savings, loss of data, loss of opportunity, indirect loss or consequential loss.
If you use LawStreet for business or commercial purposes, we will not be liable for any business losses, including loss of profit, revenue, business, goodwill, data, opportunity, anticipated savings or business interruption.
Nothing in these Terms affects any statutory rights you may have as a consumer that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
14. Your responsibility for misuse
You are responsible for any loss, damage, claim, cost or reasonable legal expense we suffer or incur as a result of your breach of these Terms, unlawful use of the Website, or misuse of LawStreet.
If you use the Website for business purposes, you will indemnify LawStreet against losses, claims, damages, costs and reasonable legal expenses arising from your breach of these Terms, unlawful use of the Website, or misuse of LawStreet.
15. Suspension and termination of use
We may suspend, restrict or terminate your access to all or part of the Website if we reasonably believe that:
- you have breached these Terms;
- you have misused the Website;
- your use creates legal, regulatory, operational, security or reputational risk for LawStreet;
- we are required to do so by law, regulation, court order or competent authority; or
- continued access would be harmful to LawStreet, users, firms, third parties or our systems.
We may act without notice where urgent action is required or where notice would be inappropriate.
Upon termination, the rights granted to you under these Terms will cease immediately.
Sections of these Terms that are intended to continue after termination will continue, including sections relating to intellectual property, liability, third-party links, misuse, governing law and general terms.
16. Governing law and jurisdiction
These Terms and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them, including non-contractual disputes or claims, are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
The courts of England and Wales shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms.
If you are using LawStreet as a consumer and you are domiciled in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may also have the option to bring proceedings in your local jurisdiction.
17. General
If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid, unlawful or unenforceable, that provision will be treated as modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it valid, lawful and enforceable. If that is not possible, the relevant provision will be treated as deleted. The remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
If we do not enforce a right under these Terms, or delay in enforcing it, that does not mean we have waived that right. We may still enforce it later.
You may not assign or transfer your rights or obligations under these Terms without our prior written consent.
We may transfer our rights and obligations under these Terms as part of a merger, reorganisation, sale of business, transfer of assets, investment transaction or corporate restructuring.
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, Cookies Policy and, where applicable, the Firm Terms of Service, form the entire agreement between you and LawStreet in relation to your use of the Website.
Nothing in these Terms excludes liability for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.
A person who is not a party to these Terms has no right under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999 to enforce any provision of these Terms.
