Complaints Procedure
LawStreet lists solicitors and legal service providers regulated in England and Wales. The information shown on our website is taken directly from official public sources, including the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA).
If you believe that the information displayed on LawStreet does not match the data published by the SRA, or if you encounter another issue with how LawStreet presents or processes information, please contact us using the form below or by emailing [email protected].
Who can make a complaint
Anyone may make a complaint about the operation of the LawStreet website. This includes members of the public, legal service providers, and other organisations.
What you can complain about
You can use this process to tell us about:
- A discrepancy between the information shown on LawStreet and the official record
- Data-protection or privacy concerns relating to LawStreet
- Technical or content errors affecting how information is displayed on the site
LawStreet cannot make changes to the official SRA register, and we are not able to investigate complaints about a solicitor’s conduct, service quality, or business practices. Such matters should be raised directly with the Solicitors Regulation Authority or the Legal Ombudsman.
Our process
- We will acknowledge your complaint within five working days of receiving it.
- We will review the issue and, if necessary, verify the data against the SRA register or other source.
- We aim to provide a full response or resolution within twenty working days.
- If your complaint is complex or requires more time, we will update you and explain the expected timescale.
Escalation
If we cannot resolve your concern, we will explain why and, where appropriate, direct you to the relevant authority such as the Solicitors Regulation Authority for register matters, or the Information Commissioner’s Office for data-protection issues.
How we use your data
We use your personal data only for the purpose of handling your complaint. The lawful basis for this is our legitimate interests and, where you consent, the ability to contact you about your complaint. We retain complaint emails and related correspondence for up to twelve months and then delete them. You can read more about how we manage personal data in our Privacy Policy.
